A NAS A WEEK - 14 SHA'BAN 1439

[Fasting for] a limited number of days. So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] - then an equal number of days [are to be made up]. And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] - a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person [each day]. And whoever volunteers excess - it is better for him. But to fast is best for you, if you only knew [Translation of al-Baqarah, 2:184] .

SAKINATUL RAADIYAH AND SHAHRINIZAM CONTINUE THE SUCCESS TALLY IN VIVA VOCE

Praise to Allah SWT for the success of two RISDEV (ISDEV postgraduate by research) candidates, Shahrinizam Mohd Amin and Sakinatul Raadiyah Abdullah in their viva voce on 2 March 2018. Their viva took place at C23, Social Science Conference Room, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and were divided into morning and afternoon session. Viva voce is a big step in completing their Ph.D research journey after struggling for nearly 3 years to complete their research. As an ISDEV regular practice, a mock viva prior to the viva voce takes place on 28 February 2018 in order to challenge their capability on defending their PhD thesis. Thus, have We revealed to you O Muhammad, a Spirit (inspired Book - The Qur'an) by Our command: while you did not know what is The Book and what is the Iman (faith)? ISDEV GRADUATE DISCOURSE IN FEBRUARY: 2 MORE RISDEV GET THE NOD!

ISDEV Graduate Discourse for February 2018 was held on 22 February 2018. Two RISDEV students were involved in the graduate discourse in presenting their PhD final draft thesis in front of ISDEV fraternity. Farah Farhana passionately presenting her PhD findings The Graduate Discourse was held at ISDEV open library, which involved two RISDEV students presented their thesis proposals. The first candidate was Farah Farhana Johari with her Ph.D final draft thesis titled " Asas Pembinaan Pernyataan Visi dan Misi Institusi Pembangunan Berteraskan Islam Di Malaysia ". Farah Farhana is supervised by Dr. Fadzila Azni Ahmad. Her final thesis was evaluated by Dr. Shahir Akram Hassan who gave his approval for the to proceed with the submission of thesis draft. Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The roof of my house was opened when I was in Mecca and Gabriel descended and opened my heart and then he washed it with the water of zamzam. He then brought a gold basin full of wisdom and faith and after emptying it into my heart, he closed it up. Then taking me by the hand, he ascended with me to the heaven and when we came to the lowest heaven, Gabriel said to its guardian: Open! He asked who was there? He replied: It is Gabriel. ISDEV WELCOMES NEW MISDEV17.2 STUDENTS

Welcoming ceremony for MISDEV 17.2 For the third time ISDEV accepted a second batch of intake for its Master in Social Science (Islamic Development Management) programme. A positive indication that this three semesters' mixed-mode course work programme is well known and well received. Thus, ISDEV welcomes the new batch of students on 08 February 2018 at Lecture Hall A (DKA), School of Social Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Nine new students were accepted to pursue their Masters (Mixed-Mode) for the academic year 2017/2018 Semester II. In continuation of ISDEV tradition, this new batch of students is collectively known as MISDEV 17.2.
