SAFAR HE YEH ZINDAGI - PU TAHA, MISION ACCOMPLISHED

Mock viva held prior to his viva voce  at ISDEV, open library, D04 Taha Mohd Omar, a RISDEV (ISDEV postgraduate by research) candidate has added the tally to ISDEV records of "Excellent PhD Thesis". He was awarded Grade 1 (the highest scale accorded to by Universiti Sains Malaysia for a viva) by the Board of Examiners during his viva on Monday, 29 September 2016 at C06 Conference Room, School of Social Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Taha or also known as PU Taha from the reality TV show 'Pencetus Ummah'  on Astro Oasis in season 3 had successfully defended his Ph.D thesis on "The Islamic Capital Market: Analysis of the Shariah Screening Methodology by the Securities Commission of Malaysia".  After performing solat hajat for Taha at Masjid Al-Malik Khalid, USM As the culture in ISDEV prior to any viva voce, there are two routines that are strictly adhered to prepare students spiritually, emotionally, physically as well as intellectually. 5 RISDEV STUDENTS RECEIVED SCROLLS AT THE 54TH CONVOCATION

Sweet moments when five RISDEV students received their scrolls. 5 RISDEV (ISDEV Postgraduate by Research) students of the Centre for Islamic Development Management Studies (ISDEV), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) received their Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) degree at the 54th USM Convocation Ceremony on 24th October 2016. The day has come to honour the hard work, effort and pains of students in their pursuit of 'ilm (knowledge). After going through all the obstacles for years, 5 RISDEV students, 2 of whom are from Indonesia, could proudly cast their smiles as they had succeeded in completing their studies at the highest level. THE 11TH SERIES OF INGRAW

  The 11th ISDEV International Graduate Workshop was successfully held from 19 till 20 October at the University's Conference Hall (DPU), Universiti Sains Malaysia with more than 150 participants attending. The workshop started with the meeting of both the minds and hearts with the main intention of invoking on Allah SWT pleasures through the various working papers that were presented and commented upon. ISDEV QURBAN 3.0: THE FEAST OF GRATITUDE CONTINUES

One Happy Family- Group photo of ISDEV lecturers and students In line with the spirit of Eiduladha , this great celebration which is iconised by the major obligations namely performance of the hajj and the highly rewarded nawafil act of sacrifice to gain the blessings of Allah SWT as well as to cherish the teachings of Allah SWT, ISDEV took this opportunity to celebrate Eiduladha via having a Qurban lunch during the last day of tashriq , on 15 September 2016. The Qurban lunch was held for USM staff in various departments who had contributed greatly in the process of moving and arranging the furniture, books and theses. Assoc. A leader who knows no rest - an enthusiastic Prof Syukri explaining about " Menajamkan Peralatan " “ Menajamkan Peralatan ” (Honing the tools) was the topic of the “ TarbiyyahPengarah ” (Director’s Tarbiyyah ) held on 26 August, 2016 at Lecture Hall A (DKA), School of Social Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). The monthly Tarbiyyah was delivered to the ISDEV fraternity by ISDEV Director, Professor Dr. Muhammad Syukri Salleh. Full focus were given to Prof Syukri in delivering the Tarbiyyah Pengarah in ISDEV Monthly Graduate Supervision In his tarbiyyah , Prof. Syukri mentioned that ISDEV is not only a purely academic centre, it also acts as tools to make people realise the magnificence and wonders of Islam specifically in academics and in all aspects of life in general. Abdullah ibn Amr reported: A man asked, “O Messenger of Allah, which emigration is best?” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “To emigrate from that which Allah disapproves. Emigration is of two kinds: the emigration of the resident and the bedouin. As for the emigration of the bedouin, he responds when he is called and he obeys when he is commanded.
